Building Service Worker, Part Time

1. Clean and sanitize areas in accordance with required cleaning methods. Areas may include classrooms, offices, washrooms, etc.
2. Assist in shoveling the sidewalks/clearing snow and other related seasonal custodial care around the exterior of the campus buildings.
3. Take classes as offered for custodial duties.
4. Observe safety standards and practices.
5. Report all damage to the Lead Custodian as noticed in assigned area or building.
6. Participate in achieving departmental and college goals and objectives.
7. Perform other related duties as assigned.

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. One year of previous custodial experience.
3. Must pass physical examination.
4. Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
5. Ability to lift, carry, stack and maneuver objects on a regular basis with a maximum weight of 50 lbs.
6. Be willing and able to go up in an open lift for window cleaning to heights of approximately 25 feet

Evening Shift Supervisor

1. In cooperation with the Director and Division Superintendents, supervise, coordinate and direct the work of all second shift personnel including maintenance, custodial and grounds at three (3) campuses.
2. Act as liaison to all evening users of the campus facilities and coordinate events with the Facilities Scheduling Coordinator.
3. Direct and supervise the setups and takedowns for classes, meetings, seminars, concerts, banquets, athletic events, student activity events, graduation, and other College events.
4. Enforce work rules and standards. Recommend personnel actions such as promotion and disciplinary action to Divisional Superintendents and Director of Physical Plant.
5. Provide on-site supervision and direction of work in progress for neatness, accuracy and conformance to standards.
6. Assure availability of equipment and supplies by coordinating with Division Superintendents to maintain adequate inventories.
7. Investigate and report all accidents. Complete and process appropriate reporting forms.
8. Assist Division Superintendents in establishing priority and scheduling work.
9. Interpret College and departmental policy to workers and enforce safety regulations.
10. Coordinate with Division Superintendents to make sure appropriate records such as attendance and overtime are maintained.
11. Establish or adjust work to meet production schedules using knowledge or capacity of equipment and personnel.
12. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Suggest changes in working conditions, departmental procedures and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
13. Work with Division Superintendents to develop and maintain an inspection program to identify and correct unsafe conditions for the welfare of students, employees and visitors. Conduct safety inspections of buildings, grounds and equipment.
14. Coordinate and conduct training of evening shift employees
15. Monitor campus environmental conditions and initiate action to correct problems affecting evening users of campus facilities.
16. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Custodial Superintendent or Director of Facility Services.

1. An Associate’s Degree in Hospitality, Facilities Management or related field. Completion of a certificate program or other formal training in a related field will be given consideration.
2. Five (5) years Facility Service experience or other combination of education and experience in plant maintenance or similar operation.
3. Five (5) years of the above experience must be in a supervisory capacity with large work groups.
4. Ability and willingness to flexibly schedule time to provide coordination of a multi-campus, multi-shift Facility Services operation.
5. Detailed knowledge of sanitation methods, equipment and supplies.
6. Demonstrated ability to relate and provide leadership to a culturally diverse union work force.
7. Basic knowledge of Life Safety Code, OSHA and EPA regulations.
8. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office or similar software.
9. Must pass a physical examination.
10. Must possess and maintain a valid Illinois Driver’s license

Employer is currently recruiting for hand packers and sorters at a pizza factory in Romeoville. Employer will be coming to the Lawrence office every Tuesday from 9am-12pm to do recruitment. Employer states there are about 50 positions available.

Job requirements: Must be able to withstand cold temperatures and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work overtime and pass a drug/background check. No previous experience necessary. Assistant Cook

Assist cook in the preparation and serving of children’s meals and snacks at the Family Development Center. Act as substitute cook when cook is unavailable.
1. Preps foods as directed.
2. Washes dishes.
3. Assists in the preparation of meats, fish, vegetables and other food for serving.
4. Assists in serving food.
5. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dishes after all meals and snacks
6. Drive FDC van to store to purchase necessary food items and/or supplies for snack and meal preparation as directed.

11. Attends required/requested CACFP, State Board of Health and/or Early Head Start training programs.
12. Assures all procedures are in compliance with the State Board of Health regulations, CACFP guidelines, State of Illinois Child Care Regulations and Early Head Start regulations.
13. Completes required CACFP, State Board of Health and/or Early Head Start paperwork in a timely manner.
14. Adheres to all plans, policies and procedures of Governors State University, Family Development Center and Early Head Start

15. Comply with regulatory health requirements, including: providing documentation of an annual physical within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter; and a TB test.
16. In coordination with supervisor and Administrative Coordinator, order and/or purchase food from grocery store as needed.
17. Other duties as assigned.
